Inside My Mind

Today is the deadline. The line has been drawn in the sand. The Rubicon is about to be crossed. I am left with no choice, but to invoke the final option. Unless...that is...a miracle, an angel knocks on the door. I have gone as far as I can go with the situation as it is. I have coped and dealt as much as is humanly possible. Only divine intervention can stay what must be today. I stare into the abyss with abandonment it seems.

It was inevitable that this day, this time should arrive. I grasped, clutched, clawed at what few shimmers of hope remained, but it seems to no avail. Now on this second Sunday in August of 2010 that I have run out of rope, ran out of will, ran out of options, save the final option.

Will there be singing and dancing in the streets, in the cornfield? Will there be silent resignation that what must be was unavoidable and necessary? Will there be sighs of relief that it is finally over? Will there be any tears or any expressions of sorrow?

How does one face what is when one is down to the final option? It is not easy, but I must remain resolute. I must remain strong to see it through. For there is no other avenue left for me to traverse. I am down to the final option.

Will God intervene in time? Will God let be what must be? Will God reward my hope, my faith, my struggle? Or has God already spoken in volumes that there is but one option?

Kev and Hailey exchanged vows Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Bethany United Methodist Church, Austin, TX at 10 a.m. The happy couple are now residing in Austin.

My youngest son is now married. My new daughter is the former Hailey Thorne. I couldn't be happier.

Iohn, Mom, Bill and I drove down for the wedding. Mom and Bill arrived earlier in the day on Friday. Iohn and I arrived later in the day. That evening was the rehearsal followed by a dinner at Kearney Lane Cafe.

The wedding day was beautiful and sunny. The ceremony was simple and elegant. The couple were full of smiles.
