On A Gray Sunday Morning
By mark on Apr 25, 2010 | In In real life
Gray skies, spring showers and gusting winds dominate the cornfields and coal mines this Sunday morning as the last week of April arrives. The grayness outside mirrors the gloominess that continues to pervade the Den.
A couple of weeks ago Iohn lost his job. He has been trying every day since to find another one. He has applications in from Linton to Dugger to Sullivan to Shelburn to Terre Haute. In this economy, jobs are nearly impossible to find. Positions are filled even before word of an opening is known.
With everything else that has happened since March roared in with the devastation of a lion, this has just added insult to horror. I have tried to maintain my sanity, my equilibrium...yet I feel it all slipping away. Not sure if much longer I will be able to retain the grips, hold on to control.
Did pick up a new client this week for Ivy Web Host and Ivy Site Design. The latest client hails from Lebanon, Virginia. He is one of the newest cellular dealers offering unlimited talk and text at a rate that is a sure sale. Welcome aboard Appalachian Wireless.
Sinking, edging ever closer to the realm of madness. The cataclysmic revolutions attacking my brain are squeezing the life from me. The pain at times so severe and yet, I some how hide the full effects of the onslaught even from Iohn. Frankie and Tigger seem to know that all is not right with their "Daddy". Both try to stay as close and on my lap constantly.
I have attempted to relay the overwhelming darkness to my family, friends, but none seem to grasp the sheer magnitude of it. When or if, I no longer can sustain perhaps at last they will know what I've been trying to say, my cries for help were not just the shepherd screaming wolf for fun.
For now, I struggle. I grasp for fleeting straws. I fall. I fail. I attempt to rise.
Changing, Always Changing

Nothing in the world remains constant. At least nothing remains constant that doesn't end up stagnating and dying. Without change or adaptation or growth, the eventual result is the cessation of life. So it is in all things including here in the Den - changing, always changing.
It was announced earlier this week that as of May 18, 2010, one of our cellular providers, Page Plus, will be raising the rate on the Unlimited Talk and Text plan from $39.95 per month to $44.95 per month. This will be a $5 across the board rate hike affecting all subscribers of Ivy Cellular to the PP T&T plan. The rate for the 1200 T&T plan will remain the same.
Although this change is going into effect, Ivy Cellular will still continue to offer a $40 per month unlimited talk and text plan. This plan is offered through Simple Mobile. There is no data included. There is 50 MB of data available for an additional $10 or 150 MB of data for $20 more.
The subscribers talked with so far have stated that the $5 rate hike will not be an issue. This is still one of the best deals around and does still include 20 MB of data.
Ivy Cellular is able to once again activate Palm and HTC handsets on the Page Plus network. There may another handset announcement in the next week. Simple Mobile also allows for BYOD (bring your own device) as does Page Plus. A complete listing of allowed handsets is posted at Ivy Cellular for Simple Mobile.
The difference between Ivy Cellular's two providers is the network utilized. The nation's largest network running on CDMA (no SIM card) technology is what sets Page Plus apart. Simple Mobile runs on GSM (SIM card) technology and uses the 3G and native T-Mobile network.
Yes, changing, always changing...but this continues to provide new blood, invigorating and prolonging life.
Calming Down
By mark on Apr 18, 2010 | In In real life, On the web
It would appear that life in the Den is calming down after the tumultuous events of March during April. Perhaps this is leading to rebirth and flowers which May should bring.
Continuing on with my Spring cleaning, I have made many updates to my web sites. Hopefully the changes will be more appealing and will produce added numbers to the client base.
Here is a list of the sites that have been updated:

Let me know what you think of the changes.
Iohn is out of work and looking. He has several possibilities. The bait is in the water and he's just waiting on a bite.
We had to sink another $300 into our car recently. The water pump along with two belts had to be replaced.
In case anyone was wondering, no my headaches have not abated. The pressure, the intensity, the pain is an every day burden. I continue to do my best to ignore, manage and cope. There are those days, however, when my best efforts just won't work.
Let us hope the calm continues and does indeed bring forth the renewal of life even before the advent of May.
House Cleaning & Spring Sprucing

With Spring sprung, figured it was time to do some house cleaning and sprucing up of some of my web sites. So, last night and this morning have been working on updating and re-designing a couple of my sites.

Overnight Trip
By mark on Apr 5, 2010 | In In real life
Thank you, Iohn!
Iohn gave me the opportunity to get away overnight this Easter weekend. He knew I needed a break and happily supplied that break. I took off Saturday evening and drove down to Tunica Mississippi. The drive, the being away did help. It wasn't nearly long enough of a break, but it helped. As an added bonus, I made the trip and returned not only with the funds Iohn allowed me to use for the trip, but came back with double the funds. It helps as well, but again not nearly enough.
Now, it is Monday morning and back to life in the Den. Business is humming along. It's not bursting at the seams, but it is modestly increasing.
Here is hoping the April is a much better month than March. I can't see how it could be any worse.
Life goes on. We must just rise and fall with the waves.
